If you have found yourself on this tab, you are probably wondering, what is SCL? If you want the boring answer:
“The Louisiana Senior Classical League is an organization founded to promote classical studies. We are the college-level affiliate of the Louisiana Junior Classical League, a similarly chartered high school organization. Our primary duties are to help the LJCL at the annual state convention and other events”
If you want the exciting answer, we are a bunch of old college kids who liked JCL so much that we kept coming back. Besides helping at various LJCL and NJCL events, we host virtual game and movie nights, take group trips to New Orleans, and are known by SCLers across the nation for our epic holiday parties.
At state convention, we run the Olympika events and put on the annual talent show, That’s Entertainment!, filled with great acts from high school students and skits written and performed by the SCLers in attendance. High school seniors, also known as slashers, are welcome to attend the SCL mixer and general assembly held during the weekend and are encouraged to vote and run for our elected positions, as laid out in our state constitution.
